Made it over to Finland to get to the root of Finnish design and architecture. Such a small country with such a large contribution to architecture, design, textiles and furniture. Alavar Aalto and his first wife Aino were kind of like the Charles and Ray Eames of Finland. His furniture and her textiles are still being faithfully produced by Artek which was started by a friend of theirs in the 40s. Photos from Alvar and Aino Aalto’s home from 1934 to the studio designed in 1956. From the buildings to the furniture they designed to the lights and bricks all created with a playful attitude towards living.
